MUMBAI, India, June 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517051786 A) filed by Mitsui Chemicals, Inc., Tokyo, on May 29, for 'method for producing cyclic olefin compound.'

Inventor(s) include Ninomiya Ryo; and Makio Haruyuki.

The application for the patent was published on June 13, under issue no. 24/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed is a method for producing a cyclic olefin compound, the method comprising a decarbonylation and decarboxylation step in which a cyclic olefin compound is obtained by decarbonylating and decarboxylating an alicyclic dicarboxylic acid anhydride in the presence of a nickel complex represented by formula (1) and a metal-based promoter, wherein the metal-based promoter contains one or more substances that are selected from the group consisting of elemental metals and metal compounds. Formula (1): Ni(Y)m(L)n In formula (1), Ni represents nickel having a valence of 0 or 2, Y represents an anionic monodentate or polydentate ligand and has at least one Ni-E covalent bond, E represents a heteroatom or a p-bonding group, m represents a real number of 0 to 2, L represents a neutral ligand, and n represents a real number of 0 to 6."
