MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411075820 A) filed by Hpcl-Mittal Energy Limited, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Oct. 7, 2024, for 'method for processing petrochemical treated effluent water into demineralized water.'

Inventor(s) include Dulal Chandra Patra; Susovan Dutta; Anshu Sharma; and M. B. Gohil.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A water treatment system (100) includes a CTBD collection tank (106) that combines ETP treated water (104) and RWTP treated water (103). The combined water flows to a flash mixer tank (108), where it is dosed with lime (110) and chlorine dioxide (112) to prevent microbiological growth. The dosed water is then sent to a High-Rate Solid Contact Clarifier (HRSCC) (114). Clarified water from the HRSCC (114) goes to a Dual Media Filter (DMF) feed tank (116), which feeds into a DMF feed pump (118). The pump sends water to a DMF unit (120) for filtration. Filtered water is directed to a UF (Ultrafiltration) feed tank (122), then through a UF basket strainer (124) and UF skid (126). Finally, ultrafiltered water is collected in an RO (Reverse Osmosis) feed collection tank (128)."
