MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311088278 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 22, 2023, for 'method for preparation of banana peel-derived nanoparticles for synthesis of arylidene propanedinitrile.'
Inventor(s) include Riya Chugh; and Dr. Gurmeet Kaur.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method for preparation of banana peel-derived nanoparticles for synthesis of arylidene propanedinitrile comprising of following steps which includes: i) collecting, washing and cutting banana peels, followed by adding the peels in a conical flask containing distilled water in order to obtain a mixture, ii) stirring mixture on a magnetic stirrer, followed by boiling at a temperature in the range of 60-70oC for a time duration of 10-14 hours to obtain a crude mixture, iii) filtering crude mixture using a sintered glass funnel to obtain a filtrate, followed by centrifuging the filtrate at 8000-12000 rpm at a temperature in the range of 2-6oC for 15-20 minutes in order to obtain the banana peel-derived nanoparticles and iv) dissolving nanoparticles in water to obtain nanoparticles solution, followed by reacting propanedinitrile with substituted aromatic aldehydes in presence of nanoparticles solution to obtain arylidene propanedinitrile."
