MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311087267 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 20, 2023, for 'method for predicting aging of a battery cell of a vehicle and a system thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method (100) and a system (400) for predicting aging of a battery cell of a vehicle are disclosed. The method (100) can include and perform, by a processor (502) of a control unit (406), the steps of: receiving (102), an input raman spectrum of the battery cell; comparing (104), using a battery degradation identification model, at least one feature extracted from the input raman spectrum with at least one model feature of the battery degradation identification model; based on the comparison, computing (106), a remaining battery capacity of the battery cell; and predicting (108), using the battery degradation identification model, the aging of the battery cell based upon the remaining battery capacity. The system (400) can comprise a spectrometer (402) and a control unit (406) in communication with the spectrometer (402)."
