MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441031923 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on April 22, 2024, for 'method for performing in-loop filter processing of video encoder and video decoder by electronic device.'

Inventor(s) include Sunandini Sanyal; Anubhav Singh; Neeraj Jayant Gadgil; Raj Narayana Gadde; Yinji Piao; Min Woo Park; and Kwang Pyo Choi.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 24, under issue no. 43/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Embodiments herein disclose methods for performing an in-loop filter processing of an encoder (650) by electronic device (600). The method includes generating a reconstructed video frame corresponding to a source video frame. Further, the method includes computing a CU map comprising a quantization level applied across a coding unit from a plurality of coding units representing a pixel block of the source video frame by using a data driven model. Further, the method includes determining a CU attention matrix indicating a type of enhancement required for each coding unit from the plurality of coding units, and a level of enhancement required for each coding unit from the plurality of coding units based on the computed CU map. Further, the method includes generating an enhanced reconstructed video frame corresponding to the source video frame by feeding the reconstructed video frame and the determined CU attention matrix to an artificial intelligence model."
