MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511125951 A) filed by Sher-E-Kashmir University Of Agricultural Sciences And Technology Of Kashmir; and Amjad Masood Husaini, Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, on Dec. 12, 2025, for 'method for organic cultivation and quality estimation of saffron.'

Inventor(s) include Amjad M. Husaini; Syed Anam Ul Haq; and Tanzeel Bashir.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a complete module for organic cultivation and quality estimation of saffron. Further, the method comprises steps of medium-density saffron plantation in field from land preparation to harvest. Furthermore, steps involved in indoor method (300) of cultivating saffron without chilling requirement, and the controlled conditions to be maintained are also disclosed. Additionally, four consortia for promoting specific agronomic, quality and disease resistance traits, including early flowering, increasing the number of flowers per corm, enhancing stigma quality and yield, improving corm yield and increasing the big corm index are also disclosed."
