MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517072512 A) filed by Hyundai Steel Company, Incheon, Republic of Korea, on July 30, for 'method for operating electric furnace.'

Inventor(s) include Shin, Dae Hoon; Jo, Jong Oh; Lee, Sang Hyeok; and Shin, Myoung Cheol.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method for operating an electric furnace is provided. The method for operating an electric furnace comprises the steps of: melting a first iron source in a first melting furnace in which a first electrode part is disposed; preheating a second iron source in a second melting furnace in which a second electrode part is disposed; and melting the second iron source in the second melting furnace, wherein: the first melting furnace and the second melting furnace share an internal space; in the step of preheating the second iron source, the second electrode part emits a first gas; and in the step of melting the second iron source, the second electrode part emits a second gas different from the first gas."

The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 14, 2024, under International application No.PCT/KR2024/095127.
