MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517035979 A) filed by Dormakaba Schweiz Ag, Wetzikon, Switzerland, on April 14, for 'method for operating an electromechanical locking device.'

Inventor(s) include Hanselmann Stephan; Greil Stefan; Meier Tom; and Blaser Tommy.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a method (1 85) for operating an electromechanical locking device (30) at a location (201 208). The locking device (30) comprises an electromechanical actuator (35) locking device electronics (34) and a driver (36) wherein the electromechanical actuator (35) can be actuated by the locking device electronics (34) in order to convert the driver from a non rotatable state to a rotatable state. The method (1 85) has the following steps which are carried out by the locking device (30): a. detecting (82) an electronic key (20) b. initiating a function check routine (83) wherein the actuator (35) is electrically actuated in order to convert the driver (36) from the non rotatable state to the rotatable state said locking device (20) being in a default state in steps a. and b. and c. subsequently receiving (124) configuration data said configuration data comprising at least one piece of access authorization information whereby the locking device (30) is converted from the default state to a configured state."

The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 18, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/078908.
