MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517060618 A) filed by Jfe Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on June 25, for 'method for manufacturing welded joint and welded joint.'

Inventor(s) include Kim Jingeum; Kawabe Nao; and Takashima Katsutoshi.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The objective of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a welded joint and a welded joint employing resistance spot welding with which it is possible to reduce the amount of hydrogen that penetrates into the welded joint in a usage environment after welding and to suppress delayed fracture of the welded joint during use.???In this method for manufacturing a welded joint steel plates include at last one high strength steel sheet having a tensile strength at least equal to 980 MPa and two or more of the steel plates are overlaid on one another and are resistance spot welded to form a welded portion wherein: the high strength steel sheet having a tensile strength at least equal to 980 MPa has a specific component; in the heat affected zone of the welded portion the total number of carbides including at least one of Mo and Cr and having a particle size with an equivalent circle diameter of 100 nm or less is at least equal to 50/??m2; and an average crystal grain diameter of a softened portion of the welded portion is at most equal to 20 nm."

The patent application was internationally filed on Jan. 26, 2024, under International application No.PCT/JP2024/002361.
