MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517075801 A) filed by Eleven International Co. Ltd., Osaka, Japan, on Aug. 8, for 'method for manufacturing thermoplastic fiber-reinforced resin wheel.'
Inventor(s) include Isogawa Sachihiro; Saitou Saori; and Itakura Tsuyoshi.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A resin wheel in which a rim portion and a disc portion are integrated together is manufactured with good moldability and in an extremely short period of time. In a resin wheel manufacturing method where a material 11 made of a thermoplastic fiber-reinforced resin is molded with a mold 31, the mold 31 is set at a temperature lower than the melting point of the resin matrix of the material 11. A billet-shaped material 11b and a sheet-shaped material 11a are provided as the material 11, and heated to a temperature higher than the melting point of the resin matrix thereof. The heated billet-shaped material 11b is retained inside the mold 31 surrounded by a disc outer surface mold 32 and a rim outer diameter mold 33, and the sheet-shaped material 11a is retained on the surface of a punch mold 34-side in the rim outer diameter mold 33. The punch mold 34 is lowered to deep-draw the sheet-shaped material 11a to form the rim portion of the wheel, while pressing a part of the sheet-shaped material 11a onto the billet-shaped material 11b to bond the materials together and simultaneously the billet-shaped material 11b is compression-molded to form the disc portion of the wheel."
The patent application was internationally filed on Jan. 22, 2024, under International application No.PCT/JP2024/001713.
