MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511113702 A) filed by K. R. Mangalam University, Gurugram, Haryana, on Nov. 19, 2025, for 'method for making of punja durry-based garments.'

Inventor(s) include Paramjeet Kaur; Versha Verma; and Indrajeet Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention provides a modified industrial sewing system engineered for efficient stitching of dense, handwoven Punja Durry fabrics. It incorporates a reinforced needle plate, dual-height feed dog mechanism, and calibrated tension-stitch settings to prevent needle breakage, thread snapping, and fabric slippage. The system enables uniform, high-speed seam formation while preserving textile integrity, achieving industrial scalability and superior stitch quality compared to conventional machines."
