MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441038173 A) filed by Alt Material Innovations Private Limited, Bangalore, Karnataka, on May 15, 2024, for 'method for isolating and obtaining non-biofuel-based products from agricultural by-products.'
Inventor(s) include Harshad Ravindra Velankar; Chiranjeevi Thulluri; Apoorv Garg; and Yugal Raj Jain.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed is a method for isolating and obtaining non-biofuel-based products from agricultural by-products. The method comprises: subjecting agriculture by-products to a sequential pretreatment, wherein the sequential pretreatment comprises an acid pretreatment performed to obtain a first solid fraction comprising cellulose, lignin, and silica, and a first liquid fraction comprising one or more extractives; an alkali pretreatment of the first solid fraction, performed to segregate cellulose, lignin, and silica based on their solubility to obtain a second solid fraction comprising cellulose and a second liquid fraction comprising lignin and silica; and isolating pure cellulose from the second solid fraction and pure lignin and pure silica from the second liquid fraction."
