MUMBAI, India, Nov. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517096533 A) filed by Agro Innovation International; Universite De Rennes; and Centre National De La Recherche Scientifique, Saint-Malo, France, on Oct. 7, for 'method for inhibiting the nitrification process in soil.'

Inventor(s) include Farajzadeh, Davoud; Arkoun, Mustapha; Pluchon, Sylvain; Monard, Cecile; El Amrani, Abdelhak; and Clostres, Emmanuel.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 14, under issue no. 46/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a method for inhibiting the nitrification process in soil, wherein one or more miRNAs are applied to the soil in order to inhibit the expression of one or more genes participating in the nitrification process in said soil, such as the genes encoding the AMO (ammonia monooxygenase) enzyme and/or the HAO (hydroxylamine oxidoreductase) enzyme."

The patent application was internationally filed on Apr. 05, 2024, under International application No.PCT/FR2024/050451.
