MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611000622 A) filed by Maharana Pratap University Of Agriculture And Technology, Udaipur, Rajasthan, on Jan. 3, for 'method for improving nutrient release in poultry feed using a microbial consortium.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Devendra Jain; Dr. Deepak Rajpurohit; Dr. S. Ramesh Babu; Dr. Divya Vyas; and Dr. Suman Sanadhya.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a non-therapeutic method for improving nutrient release in poultry feed through the use of a microbial consortium comprising the phytase-producing Serratia strains PHB-7, PHB-10, PHB-16, PHB-24 and PHB-34. The method involves applying the consortium to poultry feed or feed ingredients to promote hydrolysis of phytate-bound minerals, thereby enhancing the availability of phosphorus and micronutrients within the feed matrix. The improvement in nutrient release achieved by the method is quantifiable using analytical techniques such as ICP-OES, which demonstrate increased solubilised mineral content in treated feed. The invention also provides embodiments relating to the preparation of the microbial consortium, suitable application formats including liquid, dried, encapsulated or immobilised forms, and conditions supporting enzymatic activity. A poultry feed composition produced by the method is further disclosed."
