MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541007223 A) filed by Fixity Green Private Limited, Kondapur, Telangana, on April 29, 2025, for 'method for extraction and recovery of platinum from metal mixtures.'

Inventor(s) include Kodeboyina Chandraneel.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An integrated process and plant for recovering platinum from metal mixtures including e-waste and automotive scrap. The process comprises (a) acid leaching with concurrent gas scrubbing; (b) precipitation of ammonium hexachloroplatinate using ammonium chloride; (c) filtration and washing; (d) reduction to metallic platinum using ammonium hydroxide or hydrazine; (e) filtration, washing and vacuum drying; (f) optional smelting at substantially 1,768 C in a graphite crucible with borax / sodium-carbonate flux to produce platinum ingots; and (g) neutralisation of acidic spent liquor with lime or sodium hydroxide and effluent treatment. The process is coordinated by a PLC and SCADA control system. A preferred plant for 500 kg/h throughput achieves 96-98% platinum recovery at approximately 99.9% purity."
