Inventor(s) include Dr Avijit Mazumder; Dr Saumya Das; Ms Sanidhya Singh; Mrs Bhavani Pentela; Dr Priyanka Bansal; and Dr Rakhi Mishra.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein is a method for evaluation of a polyherbal preparation for screening of hyperlipidemia and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (100) comprises collecting and authenticating plant materials (102) including Celosia cristata flowers and Portulacaria afra leaves, followed by preparing extracts (104). The prepared extracts undergo preliminary phytochemical screening (106) to identify bioactive constituents. Subsequently, a polyherbal formulation (108) is prepared by mixing the methanolic extracts of C. cristata and P. afra in a predetermined ratio. The method includes assessing acute oral toxicity (110) to establish a safe dosage and administering the polyherbal preparation in a high-fat diet-induced hyperlipidemia model (112) and a fructose-induced NAFLD model (114) to evaluate in-vivo biochemical and metabolic effects. Liver tissues are subjected to histopathological examination (116) to assess structural changes, and statistical analysis (118) of the collected biochemical and histological data is performed."
