MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521059427 A) filed by Marwadi University, Rajkot, Gujarat, on June 20, for 'method for encrypting a digital audio file.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Kalpesh Popat; and Lakhichand Patil.

The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method for encrypting a digital audio file, comprising these steps of, analyzing 101 digital audio file to generate a numerical array data, which includes pre-processing of digital audio file to extract amplitude, frequency, and waveform characteristics, and converting digital audio data into numerical array for encryption, generating 102 an encryption key, undertaken by employing password-based key derivation function 2 (PBKDF2) using a hashed message authentication code (HMAC) based on secure hash protocol (SHA-256), transforming 103 numerical array data, which is undertaken iteratively employing sine and cosine functions on numerical audio array to obtain non-linear transformation, encrypting 104 transformed numerical array data, which is undertaken by employing symmetric, stream cipher, generating 105 encrypted digital audio file, saved in format that preserves its original structure but makes playback impossible without decryption, performing 106 cryptanalysis on encrypted digital audio file, which is undertaken by employing statistical and visual metrics."
