Intellectual Property India Publishes Patent Application for 'Method For Encoding/Decoding Image, Method For Transmitting Bitstream, And Recording Medium Storing Bitstream' Filed by Lg Electronics Inc.

MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517055549 A) filed by Lg Electronics Inc., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on June 9, for 'method for encoding/decoding image, method for transmitting bitstream, and recording medium storing bitstream.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method for decoding an image, according to the present disclosure, comprises the steps of: obtaining a supplemental enhancement information (SEI) message for a neural-network post-filter (NNPF) to be applied to a current picture; determining, on the basis of the SEI message for the NNPF being applied to the current picture, at least one neural network that may be utilized as a post-processing filter on the basis of at least one neural-network post-filter characteristics (NNPFC) SEI message included in the SEI message for the NNPF; and, on the basis of at least one neural-network post-filter activation (NNPFA) SEI message, determining whether to activate a target neural network post-processing filter that may be applied to the current picture, wherein the target neural network post-processing filter is determined as a neural network post-processing filter of the NNPFC SEI message that precedes the current picture or the NNPFA SEI message in an output order or decoding order and has the same identifier as the target neural network post-processing filter."
