MUMBAI, India, Dec. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511090732 A) filed by Sanjeev Maheshwari, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Sept. 23, for 'method for converting metallized polyester film into plain polyester.'
Inventor(s) include Sanjeev Maheshwari.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method (100) for converting metallized polyester film from bales and trims to plain polyester suitable for recycling. The method (100) includes shredding metallized polyester film into small pieces using rotary shredder, treating shredded film with first chemical wash using hazardous chemical mixture comprising sodium hydroxide (NaOH), hydrofluoric acid (HF), and water. Moreover, washing is performed with mechanical stirring under controlled conditions to remove metallic aluminium layer and recovering clean water from the hazardous chemical mixture. The method (100) further includes neutralizing film with second non-hazardous chemical comprising Linear Alkylbenzene Sulfonic Acid (LABSA) in water to neutralize the water and the metallized polyester film, rinsing film with clean water, drying rinsed film using hot air to reduce moisture content and compressing dried plain polyester film into bales using hydraulic baler to provide plain polyester material."
