MUMBAI, India, Sept. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202344041063 A) filed by Maschinenfabrik Rieter Ag, Winterthur, Switzerland, on June 16, 2023, for 'method for changing a lap roll.'

Inventor(s) include Schmid, Alexander; and Stutz, Ueli.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 5, under issue no. 36/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a device and a method for changing a lap roll (19) in a device for producing a lap roll (19). The device has a core (4) which is held in a winding shaft (3) between two winding disks (27, 28) and has a lap roll (19) that is held on the core (4) and has a lap roll diameter (20), and an endless belt (6) which surrounds the lap roll (19) at least in part, the belt (6) revolving around a stationary deflection roller (8), a subsequent opening roller (9), an ejection roller (12) and a tensioning roller (17), and the opening roller (9) being rotatably mounted on a pivotable opening arm (10) held in the winding shaft (10), and the ejection roller (12) being rotatably mounted on a pivotable ejection arm (13), and the tensioning roller (17) being rotatably mounted on a tensioning device (18). The core (4) for receiving the lap roll (19) is wrapped by a loop (11) of the belt (6) which is formed between the deflection roller (8) and the opening roller (9) and becomes larger with an increasing lap roll diameter (20). When a specific lap roll diameter (20) is reached, the loop (11) of the belt (6) is opened by an opening movement (21) of the opening arm (10) and, by means of an ejection movement (22) of the ejection arm (13) simultaneously with a release movement (29) of the winding disks (27, 28), the lap roll (19) is ejected via the opening roller (9), the belt (6) remaining tensioned by adjustment of the tensioning device (18), during the opening of the loop (11)."
