MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611002006 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Jan. 8, for 'method for assessing lipid digestion efficiency of a herbal nanoemulsion using an in-vitro digestion.'

Inventor(s) include Mukul Kumar; and Ankita Vishwanath Awari.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a method (100) for assessing lipid digestion efficiency of herbal nanoemulsions using a physiologically simulated in-vitro digestion system. The method includes sequential oral, gastric, and intestinal phases with dynamically controlled pH, enzyme activity, and temperature to replicate human gastrointestinal conditions. The herbal nanoemulsion undergoes real-time monitoring of lipid hydrolysis through titrimetric or spectroscopic measurements of free fatty acid release. The method includes dialysis-based evaluation of bioactive diffusion and kinetic modelling for understanding release mechanisms. Comparative digestion with non-emulsified extracts is also provided. The method (100) offers a robust, reproducible platform for evaluating and optimizing herbal nanoemulsion formulations."
