MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123211 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 6, 2025, for 'method for analyzing differential gene expression in retinal co-culture model exposed to carboxymethyl lysine.'
Inventor(s) include Karthikeyan Sivashanmugam; and Swathi. M.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a method (100) for analyzing differential gene expression in retinal cells exposed to carboxymethyl lysine. The method includes co-culturing human retinal endothelial cells and pericytes in a system maintaining physical separation while allowing molecular communication, treating the co-culture with carboxymethyl lysine as an advanced glycation end-product, analyzing gene expression separately, and performing statistical analysis to determine differential expression. Co-culturing includes culturing cells separately in gelatin-coated T75 flasks (75) until achieving 90% confluency over 5-7 days, seeding pericytes on basal side of cellQART inserts with overnight adhesion at 37 C (37), seeding endothelial cells on opposite side of inserts, and incubating for 72 hours stabilization (72)."
