MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641024907 A) filed by Oneomics Private Limited, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, on March 3, for 'method for ambient, cold-chain-free transport of protein samples.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Kesavan Markkandan; Dr. Senthilkumar Nachimuthu; Dr. Swagnik Roy; and Mrs. Elavarasi Balasubramanian.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a passive system and method for ambient, cold-chain-free transportation and storage of protein samples. The system comprises a container, such as a transport tube, pre-filled with a synergistic chemical stabilization composition including a buffering agent, a chelating agent, a mild chaotropic aggregation suppressor, and a structure-stabilizing osmolyte. Upon addition of a protein sample, the formulation rapidly creates a controlled protective microenvironment that preserves protein conformation, structural integrity, and biological activity by reducing degradation pathways such as pH variation, metal-catalyzed oxidation, and aggregation. The ready-to-use design enables simple plug-and-play sample collection without specialized equipment, refrigeration, or complex preparation steps. By eliminating dependence on ice packs, dry ice, and temperature-controlled logistics, the invention reduces cost, operational complexity, and environmental impact while enabling reliable transport of enzymes, antibodies, biomarkers, and recombinant proteins for research, diagnostic, and decentralized field applications."
