MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611009294 A) filed by Sharda University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Jan. 29, for 'method and system for real-time hand gesture recognition and interpretation.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides method and system for real-time hand gesture recognition and interpretation. The hand gesture interpretation system comprises an image acquisition unit configured to capture, in real time, visual data representing one or more gestures performed by at least one hand of a user. The hand gesture interpretation system comprises a processing unit configured to detect the at least one hand within the visual data. The processing unit is configured to extract a plurality of three-dimensional landmark coordinates corresponding to anatomical points of detected at least one hand and classify at least one of the one or more gestures into one of a plurality of predefined gesture categories. The hand gesture interpretation system comprises an output generation unit configured to retrieve human-interpretable semantic information corresponding to the classified at least one gesture and generate, in real time, at least one of a textual output and an audio output."
