MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441032097 A) filed by Flipkart Internet Private Limited, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on April 23, 2024, for 'method and system for managing an inventory at a target location in a warehouse.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a method and system for managing inventory. The method comprises identifying attributes of a set of SKUs; grouping SKUs based on the attributes; identifying a range of days on hand (DoH) for keeping the SKU group at a target location; generating a forecast file for each SKU from the SKU group based on a moving average; determining number of said each SKU required to be kept at the target location for DoH from the range of DoH based on the forecast file; determining a variance in a target cost based on the number of said each SKU; optimizing the target cost based on the variance; and managing the inventory based on the optimized target cost."
