MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202341087835 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 21, 2023, for 'method and system for identifying index of a current lane of a navigating vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Bharath Bhat; Trishna Patil; Shreenivasa Anantharama; and Laxmi Kant Sahoo.

The application for the patent was published on June 27, under issue no. 26/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein is method and lane index estimation system for identifying index of a current lane of a navigating vehicle. In an embodiment, method comprises determining a first score for lane model attributes and lane connectivity attributes using a transformer network by performing a first multi-head cross attention mechanism on lane model and lane connectivity attributes. Further, the method comprises determining a second score for sensor fused attributes 10 by performing a first multi-head self-attention mechanism on sensor fused attributes. Thereafter, a third score is determined for lane marking and sensor fused attributes by performing a second multi-head cross attention mechanism on lane marking and said sensor fused attributes. Furthermore, the method comprises determining an output probability vector by performing a second multi-head self-attention mechanism based on first, second and third 15 score and identifies index of the current lane of vehicle based on the determined output probability vector."
