MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411078659 A) filed by Indraprastha Institute Of Information Technology, New Delhi, on Oct. 16, 2024, for 'method and system for generation of virtual terrain simulation for a virtual environment.'
Inventor(s) include Sharma, Deep; Tiwari, Ambuj Bhaskar; Tripathi, Devansh; and Srivastava, Anmol.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system (200) for generation of a simulation of a virtual terrain for a virtual environment is provided. A depth sensing device (112) obtains information associated with surface depressions and elevations on a bed (110) of a granular material at a sand table (108). A construction module (210) constructs a 3-Dimensional (3D) digital landscape based on the obtained information from the depth sensing device (112). An object detection module (212) receives instructions from a gesture-based interaction over the bed (110) of the granular material for creation of one or more landscape features on the constructed 3D digital landscape. A spatial integration module (214) is configured to create a virtual terrain by integrating the created one or more landscape features and the constructed 3D digital landscape. A simulation module (216) is configured to generate a simulation of the virtual terrain in the virtual environment."
