MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541084953 A) filed by Gitam Deemed To Be University, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on Sept. 8, for 'method and system for efficient cluster-based cooperative relay selection in vehicular communications.'
Inventor(s) include Dr Sreenivasa Rao Ijjada; and Mrs Sravani Potula.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure are directed towards a method for efficient cluster-based cooperative relay selection in vehicular communications to ensure reliable multi-hop data transmission under high mobility and time-varying channel conditions. The method comprises initiating a flow request by a source vehicle directed towards a destination vehicle and identifying a set of neighboring vehicles within its transmission coverage area. A link quality value is calculated for each neighboring vehicle based on at least one of vehicle velocity, inter-vehicle distance, signal strength, cooperative weighting factor, and channel capacity. A vehicle having the highest link quality value is selected as a cooperative relay node for a current hop, and the selected relay node is designated as the source vehicle for a subsequent hop. The process is repeated for successive hops until data reaches the destination. Relay node selection is dynamically updated based on changing mobility and link quality, optimizing cooperative relay nodes to improve routing stability, packet delivery ratio, latency, and energy efficiency."
