Further, the method comprises receiving an object detection signal from at least one adjacent lighting unit among a plurality of adjacent lighting units (104), indicating a presence of the object in proximity to the at least one adjacent lighting unit. The lighting unit (102) and the plurality of adjacent lighting units (104) are communicatively coupled. Furthermore, the method comprises comparing a signal value of the proximity signal with a signal value of the object detection signal. Thereafter, the method comprises controlling operation of the lighting unit (102) with an intensity determined based on the comparison."
