MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202341087886 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 21, 2023, for 'method and system for controlling direction indicators of motor vehicles.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a solution to a technical challenge related to controlling direction indicators of motor vehicles. The present disclosure discloses a technique of fetching a route map navigated on a navigation system of the motor vehicle, identifying one or more turns present in a predefined area on the selected route map, determining a probability curve and a cutoff point for an approaching turn among the identified one or more turns, detecting activation of the direction indicator when the motor vehicle is within an area under the determined probability curve, and deactivating the direction indicator upon determining that the motor vehicle has reached the cutoff point."
