MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202647025601 A) filed by Canon Kabushiki Kaisha, Tokyo, on March 4, for 'method and device for secondary channel access operation.'

Inventor(s) include Fujimori, Yuki; Viger, Pascal; and Lorgeoux, Mickal.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A primary channel of an operating channel becomes busy due to interference or OBSS. An AP and a non-AP station agree on secondary channels, SCHs, that may be used for secondary channel access, SCA. SCA support and SCA capabilities are exchanged through management frames, for example during association of the non-AP station with the AP. Hence, in response to determining that the primary channel becomes busy, the two stations switch to a SCH and perform SCA on the SCH. Upon gaining access to the SCH, they exchange data or frames as SCA operation. Upon ending the SCA operation, they return to normal operation on the primary channel. The stations switch from one SCH to another one when the former is also busy. An order of SCHs to be considered is defined in the exchanged management frames."

The patent application was internationally filed on Sept. 04, 2024, under International application No.PCT/EP2024/074682.
