MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202527090412 A) filed by Mediatek Inc., Hsinchu City, Taiwan, on Sept. 22, for 'method and apparatus of template intra luma mode fusion in video coding system.'
Inventor(s) include Chiang, Man-Shu; Hsu, Chih-Wei; Chen, Ching-Yeh; and Chuang, Tzu-Der.
The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method and apparatus for intra prediction using template-regression based technique. According to this method, a regression-based intra predictor is derived, wherein the regression-based intra predictor comprises a weighted combination of one or more source terms, and wherein one or more weightings for the weighted combination of one or more source terms are derived using a regression technique based on relationship estimation on one or more templates, and wherein said one or more source terms correspond to member samples in a pattern determined associated with a to-be-predicted sample for the current block, or said one or more source terms correspond to different prediction modes or different mode types for the current block. The current block is encoded or decoded using the regression-based intra predictor."
