MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517048184 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on May 19, for 'method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving signal in wireless communication system.'

The application for the patent was published on June 6, under issue no. 23/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate than a 4G communication system such as LTE. The present disclosure discloses a method performed by a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) apparatus. The method performed by the RIS apparatus comprises the steps of: establishing the number of fixed beams regarding a beam, a fixed reflection pattern regarding the beam, and a fixed period regarding the beam; and on the basis of the number of fixed beams, the fixed reflection pattern, and the fixed period, operating so as to reflect a signal, wherein the reflection pattern may be related to the amplitude and phase of the signal reflected by the RIS apparatus."
