MUMBAI, India, June 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517006671 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on Jan. 27, for 'method and apparatus for configuring transmission of sounding reference signal for estimating location of inactive terminal in wireless communication system.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting higher data transmission rates. The method comprises the steps of: receiving an RRC release message which is associated with a radio resource control (RRC) inactive state and includes sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration information for positioning, which is provided in a pre-configured form; identifying an event requiring activation of the SRS configuration information for positioning; and transmitting an RRC resume request message to a base station operating a cell in a validity area for the SRS configuration information for positioning."
