MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621046785 A) filed by Dr. Viral Shah; Soni Khushi Naresh; and Helin Rajnikumar Patel, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on April 12, for 'medicated organogel formulation for diabetic foot ulcer and process for preparing organogel loaded sole pads.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a medicated organogel formulation for diabetic foot ulcer and process for preparing organogel loaded sole pads. The process includes of taking a predefined quantity of oleic acid, soya lecithin and stearic acid in a beaker; heating the beaker at 60-80 C to form a mixture; cooling the mixture at 40-50 C; adding a predefined quantity of a Cefuroxime Axetil into the mixture and stirring the mixture until the mixture is completely dispersed; adding a predefined quantity of surfactant and co-surfactant in the mixture; putting the mixture into a magnetic stirrer for 2 hours at 1000 rpm; adding a predefined quantity of a purified water dropwise so reverse micelles are formed; transforming the reverse micelles into fluid-filled cylindrical fibers, wherein the fluid-filled cylindrical fibers are entangled to form an organogel; preparing a sole pad by using a molten polymer and loading the organogel on the sole pads to form the medicated organogel loaded 3D printed sole pads for diabetic foot ulcer."
