MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517056718 A) filed by Hexiris Inc., New Brunswick, Canada, on June 12, for 'medical device and ocular implant for treatment of ocular disorders.'

Inventor(s) include Sekhavat, Houfar; and Shoham-Hazon, Nir.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A medical device for office-based / operating room bleb forming minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries. The medical device includes a proximal segment for grasping by a user, a distal segment that includes a piercing member coupled to and extending from the distal segment, wherein the piercing member is configured to contain and deliver an ocular implant into an eye tissue layer to obtain a channel, wherein the proximal segment and the distal segment being configured to couple to each other at a pivot point between an unlocked configuration and a locked configuration, and wherein in the unlocked configuration, the proximal segment and the distal segment are rotatable relative to each other about a rotation axis at the pivot point."
