MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411072168 A) filed by Birla Institute Of Technology & Science, Pilani, Rajasthan, on Sept. 24, 2024, for 'mechanochemical synthesis of (3-indolyl)cyanomethane compounds.'

Inventor(s) include Anil Kumar; and Bhawani.

The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a mechanochemical method for synthesis of (3-indolyl)cyanomethane compound of formula (I) comprising: a) adding a reactant with 3-indoleacetonitrile along with stainless steel balls in a ball mill jar to obtain a first mixture; b) adding an oxidizing agent (5 to 6 M decane solution) and a Lewis acid (10 mol%) to the first mixture to obtain a second mixture and c) milling this second mixture under ball-milling for 25 min at a speed of 600 rpm to obtain a final mixture; and d) extracting the final mixture with a solvent followed by drying the organic layer with sodium sulphate and concentrating over reduced pressure to obtain 3-indolylcyanomethane compounds of formula (I). The present disclosure also relates to an (3-indolyl)cyanomethane compound of formula (I) comprising."
