MUMBAI, India, June 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517050480 A) filed by Interdigital Ce Patent Holdings, Sas, Paris, on May 26, for 'mechanism to control the refresh rate of the real-environment computation for augmented reality (ar) experiences.'
Inventor(s) include Hirtzlin, Patrice; Rao, Jaya; De Foy, Xavier; Starsinic, Michael; Faivre D'Arcier, Etienne; Jouet, Pierrick; Lelievre, Sylvain; Defrance, Serge; Fontaine, Loic; and Neff, Ralph.
The application for the patent was published on June 13, under issue no. 24/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Example embodiments provide a mechanism enabling a user equipment, UE, to adapt the environment-computation refresh rate to improve user extended reality, XR, experience and limit resource usage. An example method includes obtaining sensor data describing a user's environment; obtaining information indicating at least one factor from among: user movement information, environment evolution information, network condition information, or battery life information; determining a candidate environment-computation refresh rate based on the at least one factor; selecting an environment-computation refresh rate as a minimum of: the candidate environment-computation refresh rate and a maximum environment-computation refresh rate; and updating a real-environment computation using the selected environment-computation refresh rate."
The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 29, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/083521.
