MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411002561 A) filed by Lg Electronics Inc., Seoul, Republic of Korea, on Jan. 12, 2024, for 'mechanism for generating indices for digital files.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "[0084] A system (100) to generate indices for digital files. The system (100) includes a categorizer (104) configured to receive a plurality of digital files from a storage device (102) and to identify one or more categories of the received digital files based on filename extensions. The system (100) further includes an index generator (106) configured to obtain descriptive information corresponding to the digital files associated with the at least one category, based on at least one of: captured content and an identifier of the digital files associated with at least category. The index generator (106) is further configured to generate indices for the digital files associated with the at least one category based on the obtained descriptive information."
