MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202647023632 A) filed by Nokia Technologies Oy, Espoo, Finland, on Feb. 27, for 'mdt for aiml positioning.'

Inventor(s) include Fevold, Jerediah; Dosti, Endrit; Tomala, Malgorzata; Ashraf, Muhammad Ikram; and Sahin, Taylan.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Various examples of embodiments described herein relate to methods and apparatuses for MDT for AIML positioning. One such example of an embodiment relates to a method that includes receiving a trace session activation message comprising a minimization of drive test, MDT, configuration for collecting positioning related data for training or validating an artificial intelligence and machine learning, AIML, model for positioning; configuring, through the LTE Positioning Protocol, LPP, an endpoint terminal to collect and send positioning related data to be used for training or validating the AIML model for positioning based on the modified MDT configuration; receiving, from an endpoint or at least one gNodeB, positioning related data; inserting the positioning related data into payloads of trace records; and providing the trace records to a network entity or function managing trace collection."

The patent application was internationally filed on Aug. 02, 2024, under International application No.PCT/IB2024/057488.
