MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311080172 A) filed by Akhil Singhal, Malviya Nagar, Punjab, on Nov. 25, 2023, for 'maritime replenishment and refueling system.'

Inventor(s) include Akhil Singhal.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention is an improved system for in-flight refuelling and supply transfer between vessels (1) and fuel tanker vessels (2), departing from traditional methods that entail parallel alignment and tight ropes. In this innovative approach, vessel (1) is positioned in front of the fuel tanker vessel, significantly reducing collision risks. The fuelling process is initiated by deploying a fuel pipe (3) from the fuel tanker vessel (2), and a remote-controlled boat equipped with a metal nozzle (10) is dispatched to the vessel's fuelling station (13). The station features a lowered flap (12) with an electromagnet-equipped fuel pipe inlet (6), ensuring a secure, leak-free connection during refuelling. Circular floats (4) provide stability to the entire fuel pipe (3), even in adverse sea conditions. Following refuelling, the remote-controlled boat returns to the tanker vessel (2), and the fuel inlet flap is raised using motorized pulleys (7) and chains (9). The same system is employed for supply replenishment, utilizing encapsulated supplies transferred through the fuel pipe via air pressure. This system enhances safety and efficiency, offering a departure from the complexities of traditional refuelling methods."
