MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541060548 A) filed by Vignan's Institute Of Information Technology, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on June 25, for 'marble dust powder as a cement substitute in concrete.'

Inventor(s) include Mr. M. Padmakar; Mr. A. Teja; Mr. B. Ashok Kumar Reddy; Ms. Ampolu Harika; Mr. Jarajapu Mohana Krishna; Ms. Ramba Manas; and Ms. Rongali Meghana.

The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Most previous studies have analyzed the use of marble dust powder (MDP) as a partial cement replacement, focusing on its impact on concrete properties and sustainability. Researchers have primarily examined the optimal replacement levels and their effect on mechanical performance. The present study developed the compressive strength for different percentages of MDP to determine the strength of concrete under environmental conditions. The invention evaluates the impact of this replacement on key properties of concrete, particularly its strength and durability. Various tests were conducted to analyze its effectiveness under different conditions, ensuring that the modified concrete maintains structural integrity. The results indicate that an optimal replacement percentage can improve certain performance aspects, making it a viable option for construction applications. This invention supports sustainable development by repurposing industrial waste while maintaining the desired quality standards in concrete."
