MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517070789 A) filed by Floating Knight Biotech Pte. Ltd., Singapore, on July 25, for 'mannuronate, guluronate and gulumannuronate topical gel or cream and method for its preparation.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to gel or cream formulations for topical use, the formulation comprising -D-mannuronic acid or a-L-guluronic acid or a mixture of -D-mannuronic acid and a-L-guluronic acid, oligomers thereof, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein the total amount of -D- mannuronic acid or a-L-guluronic acid or the mixture of -D-mannuronic acid and a-L-guluronic acid, oligomers thereof, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof is 0.5 g to 40 g based on 100 g gel or cream formulation, and further comprising caffeic acid. Additionally, the invention relates to gel or cream formulations for topical use in a method for treating inflammation and/or any inflammatory reaction, and/or pain, and methods for preparing the gel or cream formulations."
