MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311088305 A) filed by Sanskriti University, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 22, 2023, for 'manhole cover installation/uninstallation device.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Ramakant Upadhyay.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A manhole cover installation/uninstallation device, comprising a frame 1 having a first and second portion 3 positioned on a ground surface, first portion 2 is mapped with a vertical rod 4 with a handle for enabling a user to hold frame 1, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 5 for capturing multiple surrounding images, a touch interactive display panel 6 is mapped on first portion 2 for displaying captured images to enable user to select a manhole over, a pair of motorized wheels 7 arranged on second portion 3 for maneuvering frame 1 towards manhole, a telescopically operated bar 8 integrated on second portion 3 for acquiring a diameter of a manhole, plurality of suction cups 9 arranged underneath bar 8 for affixing bar 8 with manhole, and a hydraulically operated link 10 integrated between bar 8 and rod 4 for tilting bar 8 for removing cover from manhole."
