MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133964 A) filed by Dr. Mahalingam College Of Engineering And Technology, Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 31, 2025, for 'machine learning system for predicting traffic congestion using multimodal sensor fusion and adaptive signal control.'

Inventor(s) include S. Nagarajan; K. Prabhu; and D. Manojkumar.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present idea provide a machine learning system for intelligent traffic management system to minimize the traffic congestion in real time. This system organize the traffic state represent by using different data sources, such as vehicle count, GPS signal, camera feeds and environmental inputs. The flexible signal control module dynamically improve the traffic light timings to lower delays, stop and go condition, fuel consumption and emission, the machine learning model explain the quick traffic pattern to prevent traffic congestion. This system provides a continue, decision making for conventional rule based traffic management methods also improve the urban mobility and passenger experiences through dynamic traffic flow management."
