MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511113224 A) filed by Ims Engineering College, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Nov. 18, 2025, for 'low-cost solar-powered green water filtration system for borewell water purification.'
Inventor(s) include Pradeep Kumar; Manoj Kumar Singh; and Sanjeev Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a low-cost solar-powered green water filtration system designed for efficient purification of borewell water using renewable energy and eco-friendly natural materials. The system comprises a solar photovoltaic panel that powers a DC water pump and a multi-layer eco-filtration unit containing gravel, sand, activated carbon from coconut shells, biochar, moringa seed powder, and zeolite granules for sequential removal of physical, chemical, and biological impurities. The purified water is collected in a clean storage tank, optionally equipped with a solar-powered UV sterilization unit for enhanced microbial deactivation. The system operates independently of grid electricity, offering low maintenance, minimal water wastage, and high purification efficiency. This invention provides a sustainable, affordable, and environmentally friendly solution for safe drinking water access in rural, semi-urban, and off-grid regions."
