MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122176 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 4, 2025, for 'low-cost iot surveillance system for crop protection.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a method (100) for agricultural surveillance. The method (100) includes deploying a plurality of camera nodes in an agricultural field (32) at step (102), streaming video frames from the camera nodes to an edge processing unit via wireless communication at step (104), processing the video frames using an object detection algorithm to identify animal intrusions at step (106), generating an intrusion event when an animal is detected in the video frames at step (110), and dispatching an alert notification to a farmer at step (112). The method (100) achieves animal detection precision exceeding 90% and end-to-end alert latency below 10 seconds while operating autonomously for at least 48 hours on battery power."
