The strip comprises a flexible backing strip (101) coated with a depilatory wax formulation (102) that includes a depilatory wax base (103), at least one local anesthetic agent (104) in a concentration of about 0.3% to 5.0% by weight, and at least one emollient selected from mineral oil, vegetable oil, or synthetic esters. The local anesthetic agent (104) is encapsulated within microparticles to provide a controlled release profile during application, thereby reducing pain. A release liner (105) covers the wax formulation until use. The invention further discloses a manufacturing method involving melting the wax base, blending the anesthetic agent under controlled conditions, coating the backing strip, and applying the release liner. The strip may be configured as a cold-wax type requiring no pre-heating."
