MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411005484 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 27, 2024, for 'live axle shaft maintenance device for heavy vehicle.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A live axle shaft maintenance device for heavy vehicle, comprises of platform 1 installed with an artificial intelligence-based camera 2 to determine positioning of the shaft over the platform 1, a pair of motorized clamps 3 attached over the platform 1 to clasp the shaft in a secured manner, a pair of primary sensors attached over the platform 1 to detect condition of teeth of a gear attached at an end of the shaft, a,welding unit 4 installed over the platform 1 via a robotic arm 5 to perform dispersion of welding material over the gear for forming a new teeth over the gear in accordance with dimension of other teeth of the gear as detected by the sensors and camera 2, a motorized roller 6 wrapped with an abrasive material to rotate the roller 6 in contact with the shaft for performing surface finishing of the teeth."
