MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517081131 A) filed by Unicharm Corporation, Ehime, Japan, on Aug. 27, for 'litter for animals.'

Inventor(s) include Akino, Yasuhiro; and Yamamoto, Hiroki.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a litter for animals capable of sufficiently inhibiting occurrence of bad odor. A litter (3) for animals according to the present invention comprises a plurality of granular objects. Each of the plurality of granular objects contains an inorganic porous material and a solidifying agent, and further contains silica gel in a content amount of 0.0-2.5 mass%. In addition, the litter (3) for animals according to the present invention is characterized in that: the area of water droplet marks on each of the plurality of granular objects after a colored water drop test is less than 12.6 mm2; the pH of ion exchanged water from the plurality of granular objects after a liquid passage test is lower than 7.62; or the litter has water repellency and an uneven structure having a plurality of projecting portions."
